It's about damn time: McCain calls for Senate Homeland Security Committee hearing. Wants Holder and Napolitano to testify under oath.

Sen. McCain calls for 'Fast and Furious' hearing.

Sen. John McCain has requested a Congressional hearing on the much-maligned gun trafficking investigation led by the ATF.

Up until recently, two fellow Republican legislators — Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, and Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., — have led the Congressional inquiries into the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives' "Fast and Furious" operation.

In a letter sent Wednesday, McCain said additional information released about the operation last week warrants a hearing of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, of which McCain is a member.

“The committee should hold a meeting as soon as possible to examine these new revelations and determine what additional measures are needed to help prevent this type of malfeasance from occurring again,” McCain wrote in a letter addressed to Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn., and Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine.

The veteran Arizona Senator is asking for the committee to call the U.S. Attorney General, Eric Holder; the Homeland Security Secretary, Janet Napolitano; and the ATF’s acting director, B. Todd Jones; as witnesses.

I have requested a copy of this letter from Senator McCain's press office and will post it as soon as I receive it.

LATER: Nevermind. As usual, I found my sources faster than official ones: Here's the PDF that McCain's office told me wasn't posted yet.

Having McCain and the Republicans on it makes this bipartisan now, right?

While pleased that more are finally making the call to investigate and hold HEARings, I continue to be troubled by the talking point offered by all of them-

"To make sure it never happens again."

The screaming and viciously sharp point should be to exact justice upon those who committed the criminal acts and the acts of TREASON, as the means of ensuring it never happens again.

Yep. . . There's our good ol' reliable RINO in maverick clothing McPain. Never met a voter from either side of the border he didn't like. Glad to see you could finally wake up from your senior citizen power nap.

Whew- now we can rest easy: McCain & Co. are on the alert. I was gettin' worried a minute here, thought for a second we may even find some truth in gov. Then Johnni McWhere'sAGunWalkerCain showed up. All is safe now.
I really believe this.

I think it's naive or deceitful for McCain to assume this was a program with any good intentions. I know it's hard for them to swallow, but this guy in the White House is a dangerous sociopath, working for some very bad people, like the Weathermen.

I have a doctor who practices right outside of Washington, DC. She was in the Navy prior to starting her own practice. She has a friend who is retired from the FBI. He worked undercover and infiltrated the Weather Underground. After the election, he told her he wasn't sleeping, because during his time undercover, the WU had plans to infiltrate the government at high places and destroy the country from within. He was afraid they've succeeded. I am too.

If Jihadists can fly four airplanes into buildings and a field in PA on 9/11, killing thousands, this isn't out of the realm of possibilities.

I guess better late than never - or not at all like what - around 500 or so of our elected 'representatives' who have yet to wake up from their version of power naps? Or would that be willful indifference? Or perhaps they are too busy accusing their 'co-workers' of being lynch mob wannabees or screaming that 'we' need to spend even more billions on 'social programs'

Great. General McCain wishes to announce his presence on the field. Now let the battle commence. [/longstreet]

I suppose even Fairfax might be heard from soon. Meantime, consider the Wine of the Month selection.
