Jake Tapper of ABC News asks an impertinent question at the White House press briefing.

The ATF’s “Fast and Furious” Program . . Today’s Q’s for O’s WH – 6/17/2011

TAPPER: Does the administration or the president have any personal reaction to the investigative report from the House investigative committee upon the fast -- the ATF's "Fast and Furious" program and all the blowback from the operation?

CARNEY: Well, I don't have anything specific like a quote from the president. I can tell you that, as the president has already said, he did not know or -- about or authorize this operation. But the Department of Justice has said repeatedly that fighting criminal activity along the Southwest Border, including the illegal trafficking of guns to Mexico, has been and is a priority of the department.

The attorney general has also made clear that he takes the allegations that have been made -- or raised, rather – very seriously, and that is why he has asked the inspector general to investigate the matter. It is also why you see the department cooperating with the Oversight Committee. So this investigation is ongoing and I really can't comment beyond that.

TAPPER: Has the president heard from the Mexican authorities about it?

CARNEY: Not that I'm aware of. I believe the president made a comment about this that I was just referencing when the Mexican president was here.

TAPPER: Did he say something then?

CARNEY: So I don't -- I mean, I -- it certainly came up in that room when it was --

TAPPER: No -- but I mean specifically this week, with the -- with the report being issued.

CARNEY: I don't believe so. I'm not aware of any conversation like that.

TAPPER: OK.

CNN is doing their best to file the corners off of this story. Boys - we may have to get used to the idea that our POS president and his lying sack of s*** AG may very well get away with this.

Mr.Tapper will not be invited to any White House press conference anytime soon....and forget about the annual dinner!

But good on him for asking and shame on that twirp press secretary, Carney, for being a, "put a happy face on it kind of guy", aka tool.

A somewhat disappointing brief discussion on Fox - the final "lightning round" question on Special Report w/Brett Baier was about Gunrunner. All three "all star" panelists (even Krauthammer!?) prefaced their comments with a statement that the operation was based on noble or good intentions. If this is how even most at Fox News view this scandal, then is the whole thing likely to die on the vine and go away? Good intentions? Are you f*****g kidding me Krauthammer? Why would Fox spend weeks hammering the Black Panther poll place intimidation thing into the ground, and treat this as a brief blip on the radar?

Considering the latest murder news from Mexico regarding weapons supplied by the BATFE... maybe the regime will have something more substantial to say at the next press briefing.

Wow! Just freakin, Wow. Denial from the white house, and double down on fighting arms trafficking from the traffickers.

As I said in the "Melson" post -- I'm surprised you guys aren't hammering on the press-monkey's claim that the _resident (or "Pres__ent" if you prefer) "...didn't know about orauthorize... Project Gunwalker.

Pretty slick, having the press-monkey deny the knowing -- this way if he ever gets pinned down on it (unlikely, but still) he can say the press-monkey "misspoke."

After all, it's not like the lap-dog media's going to get up off their knees and spit out what's in their mouth long enough to actually ask him any REAL, HARD questions...

The only thing "real hard" in their mouths doesn't resemble a question at all...

So the administration is cooperating eh? Man I'd really like to see what a concerted coverup looks like in that case. NOT!
The dissembling and obfuscating from flacks like carney to the outright lies from him and others (like barry) are just disgusting.

Main Stream Media - wake the hell up and start doing your job - hold this administrations feet to the fire. All I'd ask for is 10% of the effort you put into destroying the Bush administration at every turn................
