Election: "We will have to fight for survival on the ground that we now stand."

An election is a formal decision-making process by which a population chooses an individual to hold public office. Elections have been the usual mechanism by which modern representative democracy operates since the 17th century. Elections may fill offices in the legislature, sometimes in the executive and judiciary, and for regional and local government. This process is also used in many other private and business organizations, from clubs to voluntary associations and corporations. -- Wikipedia.

Rush Limbaugh is proclaiming "Wipe Out!" and playing "Ding! Dong! The Witch is Dead!" in honor of Nancy Pelosi. The Commissars of the Media Comintern on the other hand are singing the siren song of compromise and Tea Party frustration and future co-option.

Neither is right.

Initially, with the understanding that the Democrats were likely to retain control of the Senate last night I began this piece pessimistically:

If the American electorate can't figure this out we are truly screwed as a country. They are more screwed than we are, for at least we understand the impending collapse and can make preparations to deal with it.

We are not immune to history. We are not exempt from economic laws. We will not save ourselves with elections. We will have to fight for survival. . . on the ground that we now stand.

In the light of day, I do not dispute the truth of any single sentence above. But just now, today, I refuse to see those words quite so pessimistically as I was when I wrote them.

A glance at the red-blue county-by-county map from last night shows what we already knew -- we are two countries. The combined United States of America corporate entity is undoubtedly "truly screwed." Their America is more screwed than ours, precisely because we live in different parts of the geography. Yet our slice of the geography just got larger as the result of last night.

The most unique moment for me as I was channel surfing last night was Chris Matthews -- his leg tingle at Obama's oratory now a long-forgotten transitory thrill -- bitching about the Bi-Coastal Elite's failure to understand the great middle, leading to a "wipe-out from Scranton to Green Bay."

Now, I am not mistaking GOP numbers for a lock on the restoration of the Founders' Republic. Such an idea is ludicrous. However, the maintenance of our safety and liberty is, of necessity -- at least in part -- a matter of politics and community. Local politics and local community versus federal politics and the federal Leviathan.

As my brother from another mother wrote, in drawing my attention to Erick Erickson's observations on the local level gains of Tea Party candidates and their GOP fellow travelers:

While I do not believe there is a purely political solution to the present crisis in this, the American experiment in ordered Liberty, I note with interest just how telling this election was - at a local level.

Of course, it remains inexplicable to me how the big-name, outrageously progressive candidates remained in office (Reid, Boxer, et al).

We are indeed two nations within one border.

Yet, look at where we sit this morning here in Alabama. ALL significant state offices now are claimed by the GOP. For the first time since Reconstruction, thanks to the Tea Parties, the GOP now will control both the state senate and house. The excuse for non-action on a whole host of issues is removed. From anti-corruption measures to firearms freedom, the GOP will own whatever happens. I expect that we will, in fairly short order, have Constitutional Carry, An expanded Castle Doctrine and an Alabama Firearms Freedom Act. We will put the state government into the position of confrontation with the federal leviathan.

Now, is it possible that these political campaigns will fail locally? Certainly, but we will still make more friends, greater networks of like-minded freedom fighters, which will serve us well as we move to confront the storm that is coming.

For as I wrote in the second paragraph:

We are not immune to history. We are not exempt from economic laws. We will not save ourselves with elections. We will have to fight for survival. . . on the ground that we now stand.

On the ground that we now stand. Look at that red-blue map again. Our ground is laid out. Wherever the citizens outnumber the serfs in sufficient numbers, that is our ground. And if you don't live on one of those pieces of ground, you need to figure out how to get there.

Because we are not immune to history. And despite the necromancers of the Federal Reserve, we are not exempt from economic laws.

The storm is still coming, and GOP control of the House -- though it will cause the bureaucratic cockroaches who fear the antiseptic qualities of light much indigestion -- will not stop it.

So, we will not save ourselves with elections. We will have to fight for survival. . . on the ground that we now stand.

But if we take advantage of every political opportunity, every added minute of preparation time, every extra FTX, every extra bean in the larder and bullet in the cache, we can win.

We CAN win.

We must win.

And we have no time for pessimism.

Use every opportunity this election has given you, as inadequate as it may be.

For we must win.

Yes...agreed. Keep training, keep preparing, keep acquiring. The simple economics of our country right now portend not-so-good-things no matter who's in charge.

Oh....and Obamacare is STILL the law. Your taxes WILL go up significantly on January 1, 2011, and you WILL lose more tax exemptions for this year's tax returns. Businesses will STILL continue to fold, unemployment will STILL continue to go up, and the housing market will STAY in the toilet. The Fed is CONTINUING down the road to ruin with even more 'quantitative easing'.

When it comes, hopefully it won't be a winter campaign to start, so use this winter to learn winter survival in your AO.

For the really cold AO's....read or listen to "The Last Stand of Fox Company: A True Story of U.S. Marines in Combat - by Bob Drury and Tom Clavin" to understand deep winter operations.

It ain't fun.

And I'm not a pessimist by nature...nor am I blind.

This is the most optimistic post I have yet seen here.

I must say that I agree with you on the opportunity presented right now.

From you keyboard to the gods ears brother.

You're right, the economic reckoning is coming faster; from the TBAC (Treasury Borrowing Advisory Report)"The presenting member stated that the market expects the Federal Reserve to purchase $100 billion per month, as well as $30 billion per month in MBS reinvestments. This will total $1,560 billion in Treasury purchases over the next year."

That's direct monetization of the entire Federal deficit.

Plus QE2.

Spend your money now as it won't buy anything soon. Silver is a good thing to have with your lead.

Why do you think Chairman Obama's getting out of town now?

Dig in, look up.

I agree completely. Now that the GOP controls Alabama, let them repeal the collectivist social security programs there so you can get your fat broken-down ass out and make a living instead of sucking off the teat of the State, you hypocrite.

Yesterday's elections will not stop the leviathan, but will hopefully delay it a bit. Gives time to convince others and prepare.

In my state of residence, Democrats lost every state-wide office last night. The Republicans could not quite manage majorities though, because Libertarians in those same contests consistently picked up 6 figure vote totals.

Democrats were crushed.

Imagine my surprise then when I went to the grocery store early this morning for milk, butter and paper towels.

On the news rack at the check-out counter was the local leftist fish wrapper, proclaiming in 3 inch high headlines "Historic Victory for Democrats." Dumbfounded, I took a moment to check details of the lead article.

It seems some obscure apparatchik escaped the electoral carnage, salvaging a win to a newly-created county executive position.

The roof fell in on their heads but there they were, staring in open-mouthed wonder at the view through the new skylight.

"And we have no time for pessimism."

The political Left shows no sign of discouragement at their recent losses. Indeed, some of them rejoice that the blue-dog Democrats have been defeated, clearing the ground for a more trenchant defense of socialism.

It is this particularly virulent strain of socialism that cannot be defeated politically. They will have to be vanquished by main force.

To that end, it is important for the tea party to remove 60 more congress critters in 2012. With the blue dogs and RINOs out of the picture, we will be better able to identify and ultimately close with the remaining enemy forces so as to bring the long night of socialist incrementalism to its final end.

We CAN win.

We must win.

And we have no time for pessimism.

Exactly right. Even if you restored the Founder's Republic next week, you're still left will 150 million angry Marxists who will do everything in their power to reverse course. If these people remain with us and fully enfranchised, your newly-restored Republic promises to be short-lived.

Secession may be the more logical answer. Split the country in two (or three, or four) and the Marxists will have a place to engineer and experiment with society to their heart's content, with the added bonus of having finally escaped the evil racists of flyover country. Meanwhile, our side will have sealed the new borders against them. Here is one proposal of how such a secession might take place.

The $ is already falling fast. It's down about 20%, as shown by exchange rates. We have sent money to help the wife's family in PI after a super typhoon, and with school costs, and it's fallen from around 50 pesos to about 40 pesos per $ very fast.
Silver does look good.
Time to relocate while the $ can help.

Talking about Chairman Obama getting out of town, to India, "About 3,000 people including Secret Service agents, US government officials and journalists would accompany the President," reports a Press Trust of India article. He booked the whole damn palace for his entourage.

What's he got planned for us here at home? Nukes?

Next four days, and a billion dollars later, will tell.

Keep your heads down.

Here in Michigan, Republicans swept all State-Level offices...Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, the State Board of Education, Michigan Supreme Court, and the governing boards of the big universities: Michigan Michigan State, Wayne State.

I smell MASSIVE vote fraud in Nevada with Harry Ried. Also in Alaska with Murkowski.

Further embarassment for Dear Leader is that his former congressional seat in Illinois is now held by a republican.

Acutally, you know what? He doesn't care. He's got something up his sleeve. Going to India with 3,000 SS and other govt officials?? WTF?? Something's rotten in Denmark.....or, more appropriately, "Mordor on the Potomoc".

We live in two nations, and I live in the other. Last night in Connecticut (where I live,) Republicans got trounced. Republicans did pick up about 14 seats in the state house, but the dems still have a super majority. Not that it matters because the dems also have an overwhelming majority in the state senate, and now a dem governor.

I am deep behind the line - and up the creek. There are family considerations that keep me here, but I am making a plan to vacate for when it becomes necessary. I'm not alone. Connecticut has the highest rate of vacaters in the nation. Judging by last night's election results, they are all conservatives.

If that doesn't occur, will you lower your expectations for future ruling majorities of Republicans?

You have two advantages, as I see it.

1.) You have made contact with the enemy

2.) Creeks provide you with an excellent means of exfiltration.

Could I construe this to mean that you are in some ways advocating a "two state solution." That would be funny. Twenty years down the line it would be north and south Korea all over again....

I admit I was wrong. I predicted the Dumbocrats would PICK UP seats.

But is it a good thing or a bad thing that the Demon Rats lost? Are they now going to have the lame duck session to end ALL lame duck sessions? Will His Obamaness just bypass the congress now and rule by executive order (decree)??

Guess we'll find out soon.
